OPTiX High Temperature Rim Coating DIY Set

OPTiX Rim Coat is a specially formulated SiO2 ceramic coating to withstand higher temperatures of 300°c or more for 12-24 months. Contaminants like dirt, iron, brake dust and more are repelled by the wheel coating, offering great protection while simultaneously making maintenance like washing and drying easier.

What To Use It For:

  • Repel brake dust, grime etc.
  • Make cleaning wheels easier.
  • Minimise possible damage done to rim.
  • Water repellence, hydrophobic.
  • High gloss, shine or matte sheen.
  • UV protection.

What is OPTiX Rim Coating?

OPTiX Rim Coat is a nano-ceramic coating, liquid polymer that fills, bonds and hardens on paint. Like all ceramic coatings, Rim Coat is hydrophobic, which offers water repellence that in turn makes the wheels easier to clean/dry. This also aids in repelling contaminants such as dirt, grime, brake dust, iron fallout and more, making it a must-have for protection. No ceramic coatings will offer resistance to stone chips, curb rash or deep scratching. OPTiX Rim Coat will keep your gloss wheels looking glossy and keep a sheen on matte/satin wheels.

Longevity

OPTiX Rim Coat can withstand 300°c and higher but it is no miracle product. With a single application and proper preparation, you can expect a lifetime of 12-18 months. With proper preparation and two applications you could get up to 24 months of protection on lightly used vehicles. Two applications is still a viable and recommended solution to increase longevity and performance of the coating. A single 30mL vial of OPTiX Rim Coat will protect up to or more than 12 wheels. The bottle is best stored in a dry-cool place or in the refrigerator. Due to the nature of wheel cleaning, brushes and degreasers will degrade the coating faster over time. We recommend using OPTiX Iron Remover which is safe on ceramics to remove brake dust and iron fallout without touching the rim.

What is Included:

  • 1x 30mL OPTiX Rim Coat
  • 3x Suede Applicator Cloths
  • 1x Applicator Block
  • 1x Coating Cloth
  • 1x Pair of Gloves

Application Process:

  1. If you are coating the barrels it is recommended you take the wheels off the car for convenience
  2. Wash the wheels and decontaminate the surface through claying, iron fallout removers etc.
  3. Depending on the wheel type, you can polish the wheels to bring back the finish so they look new(ish) prior to coating.
  4. With the included suede applicator wrapped on the sponge block, apply 5-10 drops of coating onto the applicator.
  5. Work on either the face or barrel of wheel individually, use the coating applicator and wipe as much of the surface area as you can.
  6. Using 1 of the 8 sides, wipe the coating and spread it around the face / barrel.
  7. Using another side of the included cloth, wipe again to level the coating out entirely.
  8. Allow the coat to cure for 4 or more hours. You may use a heat gun, infrared lamp, etc to speed this process up.
  9. Repeat until the faces/barrels are done and/or have done two coats.
