Range Rover with OPD - Glossworks WA

This 2020 Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic HSE D300, finished in “Santorini Black”, was brought in for an extensive range of services. The main goal was to apply protection to various items, both in and outside the vehicle to preserve its new appearance and make maintenance an easier task. After a lengthy wait, the Velar was delivered to the owner then brought to us shortly after. There was certainly room for improvement in finish and cleanliness. Paint wise there some factory defects that needed to be rectified, as well as the usual light swirls and some isolated scratches. After a full wash and decontamination, the paint was inspected and measured before test spots were performed to determine a pad and polish combination. After taping up sensitive areas and trims to prevent damage, a multi-stage correction was performed to remove defects from the surface and finish to a high standard. Hard to reach areas were polished by hand and plastic lenses/ trims were also corrected. After the correction was completed, the vehicle was washed again to remove any dust and polish residue.

The paint was given an IP wipe down to ensure a perfectly clean surface prior to coating. The coating chosen by the owner was Optix OPD, a 3-layer system which produces the ultimate in gloss, colour saturation and protection. The gloss black 22’' wheels were also removed, cleaned, decontaminated and coated in Optix OP1. While the wheels were off, the wheel arches were cleaned and dressed. The wheels were then refitted and torqued to spec by hand and the tyres were dressed.

Interior wise, protection was also a priority for the owner. A full interior detail and protection package was performed using Swissvax products. This extended to the leather, fabric (including floor mats) and plastics. Other interior surfaces such as the screens and glass were cleaned (including the panoramic roof). Tight crevasses and vents were not forgotten during this process and were dealt with using various methods to ensure complete cleanliness throughout. After having the work performed, there was a noticeable improvement in appearance and clarity of the Santorini Black paint. It has a lot higher gloss level and the metallic flake is a lot more noticeable. Both exterior and interior surfaces will be easier to maintain and be better protected from the elements due to the quality of products used.
